Minga Mujeres: Building Sisterhood, Healing, and Hope in Chía, Cundinamarca

Deep in the heart of Chía, Cundinamarca, a powerful circle of solidarity is growing. Minga Mujeres is more than a network; it is a movement of local women coming together to support one another, build meaningful entrepreneurships, strengthen their families, and create a more hopeful future for their community.

The word “minga” refers to collective work done for the common good. In that spirit, Minga Mujeres brings women together through collaboration, mutual support, and sorority, the deep sisterhood that allows women to rise together. Through this network, resilient women are developing small businesses, sharing skills, strengthening their independence, and transforming their dreams into sustainable projects.

But no woman builds alone. A network is only as strong as the community that surrounds and supports it, and we are here to be part of that community and that change.

Our Commitment to Social Change

At the heart of this project is a commitment to meaningful and sustainable social change. Our commit and act team strongly believes that healing is not only an individual process; it is also a collective one. When women have access to emotional support, trauma-informed care, education, community, and economic opportunities, families become stronger, and communities begin to transform.

Commit and Act Colombia is dedicated to strengthening mental health support in Colombia by empowering healthcare workers and community leaders to better serve individuals and families impacted by trauma. Our work focuses especially on women who are single mothers and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and gender-based violence, as well as individuals facing complex mental health difficulties that keep them stuck in cycles of suffering and poverty.

Through evidence-based training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the PROSOCIAL model, Commit and Act supports professionals in providing compassionate, effective, and culturally responsive care. This work is strengthened through ongoing supervision, research, participant feedback, and a deep commitment to improving services over time.

This is social change in action: women receiving support, professionals receiving training, families gaining stability, and communities building new pathways toward healing, safety, and empowerment.

Healing and Hope Through Commit and Act

We are deeply proud to support this group of women and highlight our partnership with Minga Mujeres. Commit and Act is doing vital work on the ground by providing training and support to healthcare professionals who care for women in the Minga community who have survived domestic violence and gender-based violence.

This partnership helps create a safer and more compassionate support system for women who have experienced trauma. Together, Minga Mujeres and Commit and Act are working to build spaces of healing, protection, empowerment, and hope.

Through this project, women are not only receiving mental health support; they are also being seen, heard, and guided as they rebuild their lives. They are strengthening their emotional well-being, caring for their families, developing their businesses, and reclaiming their sense of dignity and possibility.
